Hand-lettered Monograms… & some places to put them!

mon·o·gram/ˈmänəˌgram/

Verb: Decorate with a monogram.

Noun: A motif of two or more letters, typically a person’s initials, usually interwoven or otherwise combined in a decorative design, used as a logo or to identify a personal possession.

A traditional monogram, such as the one in the centre, recall days gone by with their old-fashioned letter forms and graceful decorations…But monograms can also be decidedly modern!

Some of these “monograms” shown above are not technically monograms but calligraphed names. I like to think of them as modern monograms! They have all the elegance and eternity of tradtional monograms, with their entwining letters and loops but with a greater sense of freedom.
A hand-lettered calligraphy monogram makes a beautiful addition to your wedding stationery. However, a monogram can be added just about anywhere :)

Here’s a little list of wedding items that can be monogrammed!!!

  • coasters
  • napkins
  • champagne glasses
  • custom postage stamps
  • the inside hem of your dress
  • the ring bearers pillow
  • the aisle runner
  • signs for the back of the bride & grooms chair
  • handkerchiefs
  • your veil
  • shot glasses
  • place cards
  • menus
  • favors like candles or chocolates
  • custom rubber stamps
  • Even the wedding cake!
